Getty<\/span>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n Kodak Black<\/strong><\/a> is pushing for a lighter prison sentence because he thinks the judge unfairly threw the book at him.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The rapper\u2019s attorney, Bradford Cohen<\/strong>, tells TMZ \u2026 they\u2019ll be filing legal docs soon appealing the 46 months he got in his federal gun case. They\u2019re looking to get several months cut off that time, and here\u2019s why.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Cohen says Kodak shouldn\u2019t have been classified as a prior convicted felon at sentencing. He says Kodak\u2019s previous guilty pleas<\/strong><\/a> didn\u2019t result in convictions \u2014 because under those deals there would be NO conviction on his record \u2026 provided he met all the terms.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n It\u2019s a technicality, but nonetheless Kodak believes that error opened the door for a harsher sentence.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n We broke the story \u2026 Kodak will likely be serving out his time in a federal prison in Kentucky<\/strong><\/a>, and as of now, he\u2019s slated to be free again on or around Aug. 14, 2022.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n If his appeal is successful though, his team believes he could be out in late 2021. Of course, this is all under the assumption Kodak can stay out of trouble behind bars \u2026 which ain\u2019t always easy <\/strong><\/a>to do.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
