Getty<\/span>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n Pioneering heavy metal drummer Sean Reinert has reportedly died.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Blabbermouth reports the musician was found unresponsive Friday in his Southern California home. No other details about his death have been released.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The guy is credited for helping pave the way for the niche rock genre, as he was a founding member of the \u201990s band Cynic as well as a brief member of Death. He played drums on their revolutionary record, \u201cHuman,\u201d in 1991 \u2026 a major factor in defining modern metal.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n \u201cHuman\u201d has been ranked as one of the most influential guitar albums of all time. It has sold hundreds of thousands of units since its original release date.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Some of Sean\u2019s other acclaimed works \u2014 besides his contributions on \u201cHuman,\u201d of course \u2014 include his part in the awe-inspiring Cynic album, \u201cFocus,\u201d which got released in 1993. The band broke up for a while after that but got back together in the 2000s for more music.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n In the late \u201990s, Sean and other members of Death formed a new alternative band called AEon Spoke, which put out two albums. He eventually left his longtime band, Cynic, in 2015.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n The official Death Facebook page commented on Sean\u2019s passing, writing \u2026 \u201cRIP to an absolute monster and genius on the drums. I\u2019m speechless and have no details.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Sean is reported to have been just 48.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n RIP<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
