Therese Dion<\/strong> \u2014 mother of international superstar Celine Dion<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 has died after months of battling serious health issues.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

Celine\u2019s mom, who was known affectionately in Canada as \u201cMaman Dion,\u201d reportedly passed late Thursday surrounded by her family and friends. Therese\u2019s eldest child, Claudette Dion<\/strong>, revealed last year that her mother had been dealing with significant health problems \u2026 including memory loss and vision and hearing impairment.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The Dion matriarch had a whopping 14 children, who she raised with her husband, Adhemar<\/strong>, <\/strong>in Charlemagne, northeast of Montreal. Adhemar died in 2003.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

Therese\u2019s death comes just 2 days after the fourth anniversary of the death<\/strong><\/a> of Celine\u2019s husband, Rene Angelil<\/strong><\/a>. Eerily, Thursday also marked the 4th anniversary<\/strong><\/a> of Celine\u2019s brother, Daniel<\/strong>, <\/strong>dying \u2014 so, this was already a very trying time for the singer and her family.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Therese co-wrote the song that convinced Angelil, a music manager, to represent Celine \u2026 and the rest is history. She also founded the Maman Dion Foundation in 2006 to aid disadvantaged children.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

Celine is currently on her Courage World Tour and is scheduled to perform in Miami Friday and Saturday. It\u2019s unclear if the shows will go on.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Therese was 92.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
