Terry Gilliam<\/strong> let it rip in a no-holds-barred interview in which he BLASTS #MeToo, defends white men \u201ctaking blame\u201d \u2026 and misidentified his gender and race in jest.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The director, writer and former member of the Monty Python comedy team recently sat down for an interview with The Independent<\/strong><\/a>, and rather than discuss his new movie \u2026 more so, he wanted to air out his grievances over being a victimized white male in 2020.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

Reading the entire thing in full is worth it, but just to give you a snapshot of Terry\u2019s stance on social issues \u2026 he says stuff like #MeToo is nothing more than a blame game.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Of a female character in his flick, \u201cThe Man Who Killed Don Quixote,\u201d who becomes an escort, he says \u2026 \u201cIn the age of #MeToo, here\u2019s a girl who takes responsibility for her state. Whatever happened in this character\u2019s life, she\u2019s not accusing anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

He goes on \u2026 \u201cWe\u2019re living in a time where there\u2019s always somebody responsible for your failures, and I don\u2019t like this. I want people to take responsibility and not just constantly point a finger at somebody else, saying, \u2018You\u2019ve ruined my life.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Then, Terry moves on to the alleged victims of Harvey Weinstein<\/strong><\/a>, many of whom he dubs \u201cambitious adults\u201d who made choices while trying to come up in the industry.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Of the disgraced movie mogul, Terry says \u2026 \u201cThere are many victims in Harvey\u2019s life, and I feel sympathy for them, but then, Hollywood is full of very ambitious people who are adults and they make choices.\u201d Terry worked with HW in 2005 for \u2018The Brothers Grimm.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Terry also says he\u2019d come across well-known actresses who implied they\u2019d do whatever it takes to land a role in a movie, his or otherwise. He says, \u201cI don\u2019t understand why people behave as if this hasn\u2019t been going on as long as there\u2019ve been powerful people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

He continues, \u201cI understand that men have had more power longer, but I\u2019m tired, as a white male, of being blamed for everything that is wrong with the world.\u201d At this point, Terry apparently held up his hands and exclaimed, \u201cI didn\u2019t do it!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

He then goes on to jokingly call himself a \u201cblack lesbian in transition,\u201d noting people take offense to it for some reason. Terry says, \u201cI\u2019m talking about being a man accused of all the wrong in the world because I\u2019m white-skinned. So I better not be a man. I better not be white. OK, since I don\u2019t find men sexually attractive, I\u2019ve got to be a lesbian.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The guy ends his wild interview by saying he\u2019s not going to \u201chit\u201d the female Independent interviewer, even though he felt they were \u201carguing.\u201d Classy \u2026<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
