TMZ.com<\/span>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n 21 Savage<\/strong><\/a> is a prisoner of America\u2019s immigration system \u2014 he\u2019s facing deportation, he can\u2019t leave the country, his ability to make a living is severely impaired and he doesn\u2019t even have a court date.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n As TMZ reported \u2026 Savage was arrested in Atlanta back in February and placed in ICE custody. Turns out he entered the U.S. legally from the UK back in 2005, but his visa expired and there\u2019s he\u2019s been here illegally for years.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The rapper wasn\u2019t even able to get a work permit for 8 months, which meant he couldn\u2019t even work domestically. He finally got one last month, so at least now he can work in the U.S. \u2026 but traveling out of the country is out of the question until he gets things cleared up with immigration<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n As you know, selling records doesn\u2019t cut it anymore, so artists make their money by doing concerts, and every country out of the U.S. is off-limits to him.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Here\u2019s the underlying problem \u2026 we\u2019re told the immigration courts in the ATL are ridiculously overcrowded with hundreds of backlogged cases. There are people who have gotten court dates for 2022. Savage hasn\u2019t even gotten a court date, so it could take years to resolve his case<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Little did we know the slow-turning wheels of American bureaucracy have been screwing him over behind the scenes.
