Getty<\/span>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n Ric Ocasek<\/strong> \u2014 the frontman and lead singer of the rock band The Cars \u2014 has died.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Police say Ocasek was discovered unresponsive Sunday at his townhouse in NYC, and was pronounced dead at the scene \u2014 according to an NYPD spokesperson. It\u2019s unclear for now how he might\u2019ve died. He was reportedly found in his bed by his estranged wife.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Ocasek started The Cars back in the \u201970s and made a name for themselves with their 1978 song \u201cJust What I Needed.\u201d They went on to churn out a number of hits, including \u201cMy Best Friend\u2019s Girl,\u201d \u201cGood Times Roll,\u201d \u201cBye Bye Love\u201d and many others.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n Their first Top 20 single, \u201cLet\u2019s Go,\u201d arrived from their second album, \u201cCandy-O\u201d in \u201979, with other hits to follow such as \u201cIt\u2019s All I Can Do,\u201d \u201cDouble Life\u201d and more. Their biggest hit to date, \u201cDrive,\u201d peaked at Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped other charts as well.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The tune was prominently featured in the 1985 event Live Aid, where it was used as the background song in a montage depicting famine in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n The Cars were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just last year, where they reunited to perform at the induction ceremony.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n He was 75.
