Kelly has just officially entered a plea \u2026 not guilty. Kelly<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s racketeering and sex trafficking case is underway in NY \u2026 he\u2019s set to appear and officially hear the charges and enter a plea.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-75cd8350fa21db51b5e00c3316bdfc69\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"39\">\n<p>Kelly\u2019s lawyer, <strong>Steve Greenberg<\/strong>, tells us the singer will plead not guilty at the arraignment. No major surprise \u2026 Kelly has continued to battle the mounting charges and cases against him, denying all the allegations. As we told you, they flew from Chicago to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2019\/07\/26\/r-kelly-alleged-sex-slaves-flying-nyc-support-hearing\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2019\/07\/26\/r-kelly-alleged-sex-slaves-flying-nyc-support-hearing\/\"><strong>attend the arraignment<\/strong><\/a> \u2026 and stuck to their phones as they walked in.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-acccc731e53630710c8f3a475b8c33f7\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"31\">\n<p>There\u2019s also a group of Kelly supporters that have gathered outside the courthouse \u2026 one wearing a \u201cFree R. This is separate from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2019\/07\/11\/r-kelly-arrested-sex-trafficking-charges-federal\/\"><strong>13-count indictment<\/strong><\/a> in Illinois federal court. The indictment out of the Eastern District of NY also includes several violations of the Mann Act and allegations of forced labor.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-1e3f3a0e1422688f75b8fbb9f78ec47b\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"30.6944444444\">\n<p>Kelly denied the allegations \u2026 blasting his alleged victims as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2019\/07\/31\/r-kelly-calls-alleged-victims-disgruntled-groupies-sex\/\"><strong>disgruntled groupies<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d this according to docs in which he asks the judge to release him pending trial. He\u2019s been behind bars since he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2019\/07\/16\/r-kelly-bond-hearing-denied-stays-in-jail\/\"><strong>denied bond<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-f0d792a73ac986fc7ed6276ecd555f84\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"35\">\n<p>According to the federal indictment \u2026 Kelly and others engaged in a scheme to coerce minors to participate in sexually explicit acts on camera. The feds say the purpose of the scheme was to \u201cpromote R. Kelly\u2019s music and the R. Kelly brand and to recruit women and girls to engage in illegal sexual activity with Kelly.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-84b0b8fdb0f87c823ed49646cf51000f\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"33\">\n<p>The feds also allege \u201cKelly and his crew traveled throughout the United States and abroad to recruit these women and girls.\u201d Further allegations include Kelly made \u201cthreats of force and physically restrained the women\u201d to obtain their labor and services.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-4f8d456500c389c001c561fec391cc87\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"31\">\n<p>BTW \u2026 the Mann Act prohibits the transportation of anyone across state lines for illicit sexual purposes.
