City Attorney were investigating Nipsey and his business partners for alleged gang activity at his Marathon Clothing store and the surrounding strip mall.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-8648b0bc3a8d163ed06510798c119cf1\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"32.7594339623\">\n<p>Sources connected to the 2 agencies now tell us, they weren\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2019\/07\/16\/nipsey-hussle-investigation-gang-ties-city-death\/\"><strong>specifically targeting Nipsey<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 they say the investigation centered around abating gang activity in the area, which has been a long-standing problem.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-f95ce490f32558052a0fdb29a5fc724c\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"37\">\n<p>No one from either agency would be specific as to their end game. And, no one from either agency could explain why Nipsey\u2019s name was specifically mentioned in connection with the investigation, especially since they now say he wasn\u2019t a target.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-8e66f17a2f613e8fa8c766f98ab37da4\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"37\">\n<p>One high-ranking law enforcement source tells TMZ, the investigation is now a hot potato in the wake of Nipsy\u2019s murder, because the City has hailed him as a hero and someone who was trying to prevent gang violence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-013cc07b1346c8b6add4361f9caa6902\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink \" readability=\"35\">\n<p>Nipsey shunned gang activity at Marathon and although he allowed gang members to enter his shop he forbade any violence.
