The headline Huawei hoped for&#8211;and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/03\/29\/huawei-earnings-full-year-2018.html\">in some instances received<\/a>&#8211;was that the company&#8217;s 2018 sales surged roughly 20% to a record $107 billion despite U.S. government efforts to cast doubt on the security of its concoctions. Earnings leapt 25% to $8.8 billion. Terribly impressive.<\/p>\n<p>And yet most legends produced with the in-your-face explains of Huawei&#8217;s revolving chair Guo Ping:&#8221; The U.S. government has a loser&#8217;s sentiment. They want to smear Huawei because they can&#8217;t compete with us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; Huawei Urges U.S. to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-huawei-results\/huawei-urges-us-to-drop-losers-attitude-as-carrier-business-revenue-slips-idUSKCN1RA07D\">Drop&#8217; Loser&#8217;s Attitude<\/a>&#8216;&#8221; reverberated the Reuters headline.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-huawei-results\/huawei-urges-us-to-drop-losers-attitude-as-carrier-business-revenue-slips-idUSKCN1RA07D\">Huawei Executive Rips U.S. Government<\/a>&#8221; repetition the New York Post.<\/p>\n<p>Sticking a thumb in the eye of Uncle sam becomes a staple of public appearings by Huawei ministerials. But it&#8217;s not triumphing acquaintances for Huawei in the West.<\/p>\n<p>It shouldn&#8217;t require an expensive PR firm for Huawei to recognize that, beyond China, its core difficulty is one of trust. It needs to be seen as a dependable collaborator: responsible, submissive, mature.<\/p>\n<p>The way to earn that relies is not with grandiloquent boastings and bratty heckles.
