Meek Mill & Van Jones<\/span><\/p>\n Proposing New Bill \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n Probation System\u2019s Gotta Change!!!<\/span><\/p>\n 4\/2\/2019 12:00 PM PDT<\/p>\n LIVE STREAM<\/span><\/p>\n Meek Mill<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s mission to reform the criminal justice system will take a huge step when he introduces a new bill at a news conference slated to begin at noon \u2026 and TMZ will be streaming live.<\/p>\n The rapper will be flanked by 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin<\/strong><\/a>, CNN\u2019s Van Jones<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\u2014 who is also the CEO of REFORM Alliance \u2014 and several local politicians at the Philadelphia Municipal Services Building \u2026 where they\u2019ll propose new legislation to reform the state probation and parole system.<\/p>\n The proposed bill aims to prevent the courts from sentencing a person to consecutive probation sentences, prevent the court from extending a person\u2019s time on probation or parole due to nonpayment of fines and fees, plus establish a system of incentives that reward good behavior.<\/p>\n As you know \u2026 Meek\u2019s been pushing for reforms to the criminal justice system<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0all over the country since he was locked up<\/strong><\/a> for more than\u00a05 months<\/strong><\/a> on a probation violation. He helped launch<\/strong> REFORM Alliance<\/strong><\/a> with Jay-Z<\/strong><\/a>, among others, and they\u2019ve vowed to get at least a million people out of jail over the next 5 years with a focus on probation and parole.<\/p>\n Meek calls this proposal the first step to changing the system in his home state.
