\"CatskillJay-Z<\/strong><\/a>, Chance the Rapper<\/strong><\/a> and Common<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are gonna attract a new generation to Woodstock 50 and anyone who\u2019s not down with that better get the hell over it \u2026 STAT!!!<\/p>\n

Michael Lang<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 the co-creator of Woodstock\u2019s 50th anniversary festival \u2014 tells TMZ \u2026 he heard about the backlash the festival has received in response to the lineup it released last week. Fans bitched it\u2019s too pop and modern, with artists like\u00a0Miley Cyrus<\/strong><\/a>, Imagine Dragons<\/strong><\/a> and Halsey<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The backlash was intense. One person tweeted, \u201cThe Woodstock 50 lineup looks like it was curated by someone who\u2019s only exposure to music has been through the Grammy\u2019s \u2018Best Rock Performance\u2019 category between 2010-2013.\u201d<\/p>\n

But, check out the video \u2026 Michael makes it crystal clear the lineup is an homage to the original 1969 festival \u2026 where more than 400,000 spectators gathered in the Catskill Mountains united by their love for great music and disdain for the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n

Michael says he\u2019s hoping to get a younger audience engaged in social discourse \u2014 just like his generation once did \u2014 and in the process, introduce Woodstock to a whole new generation.<\/p>\n

So, while there will be familiar acts for the veterans \u2014 like Santana<\/strong><\/a> and Dead & Company<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Michael\u2019s adamant Woodstock will benefit from an eclectic lineup.<\/p>\n
