\"chairman\"James Gunn<\/strong> is back in the good graces of Disney and Marvel, because he\u2019s being reinstated as the writer and director of \u2018Guardians of the Galaxy 3\u2019 \u2026 TMZ has confirmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s sweet redemption for James, who was fired by Disney<\/strong><\/a> last summer over a bunch of old, terribly offensive tweets \u2014 including musings on AIDS, the Holocaust, rape and 9\/11.<\/p>\n

Our sources say Disney and Marvel honchos decided to rehire James a few months ago, following deliberations and meetings between Gunn and Walt Disney Studios chairman\u00a0Alan Horn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re told Alan reversed course and brought James back into the fold because of Gunn\u2019s public apology and general handling of the controversy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As we reported \u2026 the \u2018GotG\u2019 cast threw their full support<\/strong><\/a> behind James after he was canned, and it had to help his plight to get the backing of Chris Pratt<\/strong><\/a>, Vin Diesel<\/strong><\/a> and Zoe Saldana<\/strong><\/a>. The stars vouched for James\u2019 character, accepted his apology and hinted Disney only fired him out of fear of public outcry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

James is adding to an already busy schedule \u2026 he\u2019s gotta finish up<\/strong><\/a> \u201cSuicide Squad 2\u201d before completing the \u2018Guardians\u2019 trilogy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
