\"AlbanyThe death of Anthony Myrie<\/strong>, a NY state prison inmate, has become a cause celebre \u2014 with Cardi B<\/strong><\/a> and Meek Mill<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0suggesting a cover-up \u2014 which is forcing the prison to release new details about the mystery.<\/p>\n

New York Department of Corrections spokesperson Thomas Mailey tells TMZ \u2026 the death of Anthony Myrie on February 11 at the Greene Correctional Facility near Albany \u201cappears to be consistent with sudden cardiac arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mailey says the prison typically doesn\u2019t provide facts about an ongoing investigation, but it\u2019s making an exception due to \u201cthe abundance of misinformation in circulation.\u201d<\/p>\n

After news of Myrie\u2019s death came out \u2026 Cardi and Meek both shared a message from Myrie\u2019s family, alleging prison guards may have been responsible for hurting him. They also accused prison officials of lying about where his body was being held to \u201cbuy time to cover this up.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Mailey \u2026 Myrie was involved in a 3-on-1 fight with other inmates, but officers broke it up without using force. Mailey says Myrie was examined after the incident and the medical staff found no injuries.<\/p>\n

However, Mailey says Myrie complained of chest pain shortly afterward while he was waiting to be interviewed by prison staff. When they took him back to the medical unit, he collapsed \u2026 \u201cunconscious and unresponsive.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was given emergency medical services by the staff before being transferred to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

According to the prison\u2019s statement, preliminary autopsy results show he had no body trauma and \u201cthe cause of death appears to be consistent with sudden cardiac arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
