It is sort of like getting cashback for groceries<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And it is all made possible through\u00a0an app by the famous coupons and deals site<\/a>, Groupon.<\/p>\n

The app is called\u00a0Snap.<\/p>\n

How the Snap\u00a0app works<\/h2>\n

This is available on both Android and iOS, to customers in the US or Canada.<\/p>\n

There are really only 3 steps to the process:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Download the Snap app by visiting\u00a0snap.groupon.com<\/a> and clicking on the app link for your device (Android and iOS)<\/li>\n
  2. Snap a photo of your receipt after purchasing the indicated items.<\/li>\n
  3. Cash out after you earn $20 in rewards.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Aside from all that, there is no catch!<\/p>\n

    Now, you may be wary about the idea of payout minimum.<\/p>\n

    Why should you have to wait to be rewarded for your participation?<\/p>\n

    It sounds inconvenient, but it will really happen quite quickly.<\/p>\n

    Depending on your location, there are usually between 35-40 items sponsored under Snap by Groupon (by the way, be sure to read our in-dept review of Groupon<\/a> to learn a few hacks that will take your savings to the next level!). That\u2019s a pretty wide amount of items, meaning you can get multiple per trip to the store.<\/p>\n

    Details<\/h2>\n

    For a bit more in-depth look at the Snap reward system, I\u2019ll briefly explain how it works.<\/p>\n

    Generally, you\u2019ll get a flat $1 back on something \u2013 say, $1 back on a purchase of milk, or a purchase of bread.<\/p>\n

    But you also get rewards for a brand-specific item, like \u201cBlue Bonnet\u201d or \u201cTide\u201d.<\/p>\n

    The product categories can get pretty varied, which enables you to get more rewards for your regular shopping.<\/p>\n

    Some Snap offers are available exclusively for Amazon orders.<\/p>\n

    This is great if you\u2019re someone who likes to do a lot of shopping or perhaps who doesn\u2019t have a lot of offers available for the area you live in.<\/p>\n

    This can be a bit of a pain in the back if you don\u2019t have Amazon prime<\/a> though since those shipping costs can really eat into your potential earnings.<\/p>\n

    The only downside<\/h3>\n

    There is one aspect of the service which I would list as a major downside, though: you don\u2019t get the rewards until you send a picture of your receipt through the app.<\/p>\n

    However, some offers are time-sensitive.<\/p>\n

    This creates a situation where you run the risk of missing out on your reward if you delay sending your receipt by a day or even a few hours.<\/p>\n

    Not an issue if you immediately send off your receipts but a bit of an annoying hassle to have in the process.<\/p>\n

    Can I use coupons?<\/h3>\n

    Groupon doesn\u2019t seem to mind if you use coupons on the products that you\u2019re already purchasing.<\/p>\n

    So if you like, you can double-down on your savings by using coupons (or better yet, using one of these coupon apps<\/a> to save even more) and then redeeming the offers on Snap.<\/p>\n

    By doing this you can come closer to profiting off the endeavor \u2013 or, at least, getting your products for free.<\/p>\n

    You may be familiar with similar kinds of apps that have tasks to do inside the grocery store, but this one\u2019s a bit more straightforward.<\/p>\n

    Getting paid<\/h3>\n

    They\u2019ll pay you by check, which is pretty nice since you can skirt the hassle of PayPal transfers that most services use.<\/p>\n

    Keep in mind that if you\u2019re going to stop using the service, it\u2019s recommended to clear out your earnings first.<\/p>\n

    12 Months of inactivity will incur a deduction from your balance, which will likely clear out any earnings that you leave unused.<\/p>\n

    More ways to earn<\/h2>\n

    They do also offer a referral system. You\u2019ll earn $1 for every friend you get to participate in the program.<\/p>\n

    It\u2019s not a huge gain, but pretty great if you can get your link onto Facebook or somewhere similar.<\/p>\n

    20 Friends signing up is enough to get you to your payout minimum!<\/p>\n

    Not limited to smartphones<\/h3>\n

    On a final note, you don\u2019t necessarily have to use a smartphone to take advantage of the Snap program.<\/p>\n

    They\u2019ll let you download it onto most tablets or even by using the service through your browser (though this is admittedly more difficult).<\/p>\n

    It\u2019s a fairly inclusive program, in that way.<\/p>\n

    Bottom line<\/h3>\n

    Using Snap should be a no brainer.<\/p>\n

    If you\u2019re going to grocery shop anyway, you may as well use this app to earn some rewards by scanning your grocery receipts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
