The Social Flycatcher (Myiozetetes similis) is distributed from Central America southward to nearly all of South America. It is one of several Tyrannidae (Tyrant flycatchers) species that bear similar markings. The most closely related is the Rusty-margined Flycatcher. As the name implies the Rusty-margined Flycatcher has rufous edges on its wing feathers. The Social Flycatcher and Rusty margined Flycatcher are difficult to distinguish from each other in the field. They can be separated by voice, but this bird made no sounds. Fortunately we have this photo to confirm identification.
This is my first sighting and posting of this species.
Taken in Florencia, Caquetá, Colombia, South America.
