Grateful Agnostic – a publish Thanksgiving giving of thanks

Thanksgiving was a few days ago … and it was wonderful.

My Sister and her collaborator hosted, and we depleted experience with family and it was Good.

But today….out of the blue … it HIT me.

Like a brick. Living in America…now … is pretty fricking amazing.

Here’s how it happened.

My wife decided to make burgers for dinner, but she had forgotten to purchase the buns.

So I put one across my brand-new heated super soft hoodie and jeopardized out into the cold, soggy, stormy, evening.( I’m in California, so cold and windy are relative….but it wasn’t very pleasant)

I got into my safe, reliable, climate controlled , not so brand-new minivan, and off I went.

And as I turned the area into the blustery darkening shadow … it followed to me. I have ancestors going back and back into the dawn of humanity and numerous had faced darkness like this. Many were hungry, countless were cold like ALL THE TIME. Many were well fed and warm, but exclusively because of sheer luck or incredibly difficult hard work. Some predecessor , not too long ago was surviving on gruel for the 30 th nighttime in a row. Some immense enormou huge Grandfather supported a banquet for their own families because he was lucky enough to kill a deer after hunting in the cold for daylights. Some past Mother of my Mother’s Mother’s Mother chose to feed her children and so went hungry.

Anyways, I was driving the 2 miles or so in peace and comfort and I got to the local grocery store … a lieu filled with fresh fruit, a variety of safely sourced high quality meat, a plaza with flowers, chocolate, soup, Cajun seasoning, cakes, soy sauce, lemon pepper potato chips, and anything else I could POSSIBLY miss. And to secure these goods I merely presented a small card that showed that I could paying off it with coin I made doing skill at defendants. I paid for EVERYTHING because I can make beings smile at defendants. My family was heated, cool, well fed, AND entertained … because I have the simple they are able to move parties happy for a brief amount of season by place appoints on things or drawing naked people.

And in my psyche the thousands of contemporaries of predecessors stretched out behind me … some very prosperous…but many who struggled and toiled and entreat and suffered to survive.

And THEN, I really really understood why I should give thanks.

And I came home to our large-scale, warm, comfortable, dry, house to find my family members constituting considers and watching digitally recorded recalls of us at Disneyland … spend our fund in order to sing and dance and have other parties entertain us.

Miracles and wonders.

I am agnostic. I don’t pretend to know what, who, or why I should be grateful towards. But in these minutes I am rightfully grateful to members who my ancestors, all those who came before me who toughed out life and grew their adolescents who developed their teenagers who collected their teenagers who invoked me. I thanked them for all human species, and our amazing ability to work together to create a life that is full of wonder and is so much easier than it has ever been for any generation before us. So I just try to express gratitude and hope that if there is some sort of force or being that is responsible for all that is right in the world…that it/ they will hear me.

I heard a podcast formerly, about the amazing count and variety of humans it takes to make a simple pencil….and my life is filled with such objects. I certainly couldn’t make a pencil, or a gasoline injector, or Lucky Charms Cereal, or a stereo loudspeaker on my own.

And it punched me like a mystic brick. There is an unfathomable quantity of nonsense to be grateful for.

Anyways, that is what appeared to me while driving to the grocery store….and now I communicate it to you…all over the world, instantly, and very little cost, from my warm room, while listening to really good music while the storm rampages outside … in order to be allowed to do with what you will.
